Význam vitaminu D a jeho metabolitů v reprodukci živočišných organismů

Vitamin D is considered to be a group of molecules that have many functions in animal organisms. The best known of these is the key role in calcium and phosphorus homeostasis and regulation of bone mineralization. In recent years, however, many new functions of this vitamin have been discovered, such as the regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, its influence on the immune system or its function in animal reproduction. This thesis deals with the importance of vitamin D in animal reproduction with an emphasis on livestock. In the literature review, the occurrence of receptors for vitamin D in cells of various types of different tissues of reproductive system, particularly in mammals and birds, and the function of various metabolites mediated by these receptors are discussed in the individual chapters. The thesis includes the design of methodology, which would test the effect of vitamin D on reproduction of the male and female domestic chickens. The hypothesis could verify, whether or not, Rhode Island Red cockerels, that would be fed a diet with a higher vitamin D content would demonstrate better ejaculate parameters and higher fertilization of eggs laid by Rhoade Island White hens inseminated with this semen. Furthemore, a solution is proposed to verify the hypothesis, assuming higher hatchability and lower embryonic mortality in hens fed higher vitamin D feed mixture. The result would be compared with hens and roosters of the same breeds, reared in an environment with the same conditions, fed a vitamin D deficient feed mixture.
Vitamin D and its functions

Vitamin D is known for its role in the regulation of the metabolism of minerals in the body. Its deficiency is mainly associated with rickets and osteomalacia, characterized by defects in bone growth and development. However, the limits of this hormone's action extend much further. It can influence the differentiation of immune cells, thereby regulating the immune response and cell proliferation. After the discovery of its immunoregulatory functions, vitamin D became a hot candidate for the treatment of autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or diabetes mellitus. Furthermore, vitamin D was found to exhibit a suppressive effect on cancer cells. Vitamin D deficiency is a risk factor associated with the development of encephalomyelitis, schizophrenia, autism, and cardiovascular diseases. Currently, vitamin D analogs are being developed that are just as effective but do not affect calcium metabolism, thus eliminating the toxic effect of high doses of vitamin D. Functional fitness and Vit. D levels in patients with hepatopathy

Introduction: patients with hepatopathy are at risk of vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D levels affect, among other things, metabolism and physiological functions of muscle tissue and thus functional fitness. The aim of this study is to assess muscle mass and strength in relation to vitamin D levels and other factors that affect functional physical fitness in patients with cirrhosis, compared to a control group of patients without hepatopathy and other chronic comorbidities. Methods: 11 patients with liver cirrhosis were enrolled in an observational cohort study compared with 11 controls without chronic comorbidities. Anthropometric and bioimpedance measurements were performed, functional tests, the 6MWT 6-minute walk test, hand grip strength assessment and calorimetry examination were also evaluated, and laboratory parameters were assessed. Study participants completed the CLDQ test, which assessed the quality of life of people with liver disease. Respondents answered questions regarding lifestyle, eating habits, physical activity and functional physical fitness. For patients with cirrhosis, the Child Pugh score and MELD score were used to assess the progression of cirrhosis. Results. The effect of vitamin D on the health of children and adolescents

The biologically active vitamin D metabolite is essential for the human body. And it is involved in the regulation of the function of most human cells. It is believed to affect up to 900 genes transcription. Thus, its insufficient amount may contribute to the pathogenesis of many diseases. It regulates calcium homeostasis, participates in bone development, and maintains optimal bone status. On the basis of the new knowledge of vitamin D, his out-of-bone effects are currently at the forefront. These relate to the immune system, metabolism, the nervous system, and the effect on the developing fetus. The aim of this work was to create a comprehensive overview of the effect of vitamin D on the young organism. And then, on the basis of questionnaire research, support or refute the hypothesis that children suffer from vitamin D deficiency in winter and spring. The secondary objective of the thesis is to create promotional material that contributes to increasing the interest of parents and older children in this issue and improving their awareness.
